The commercial LPG price hike raises the cost of liquefied petroleum gas cylinders for businesses from 1 November 2026. For related updates, explore economy current affairs.
Quick answer: The commercial LPG price hike adds ₹10 to a 19-kg cylinder from 1 November 2026, taking its Delhi price to ₹2,820. Domestic LPG remains unchanged at ₹942 for a 14.2-kg cylinder. Meanwhile, oil companies raised aviation turbine fuel prices as international benchmarks strengthened.
What changed in the commercial LPG price hike?
State-owned oil companies increased the price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder by ₹10, effective 1 November. The Delhi rate now stands at ₹2,820, and prices also increased in other states.
In contrast, the 14.2-kg domestic cylinder remains at ₹942. Petrol and diesel prices also remain unchanged in the latest revision.
| Fuel or cylinder | Latest reported position |
|---|---|
| 19-kg commercial LPG | ₹2,820 in Delhi; up ₹10 |
| 14.2-kg domestic LPG | ₹942; unchanged |
| Aviation turbine fuel | ₹138.50 per litre; reported increase of ₹1.37 per litre |
| Petrol and diesel | Unchanged in the latest revision |
How have commercial cylinder prices changed in 2026?
Commercial cylinder prices rose sharply until June, fell in July and August, and then increased in three successive months. The earlier CBL report on rising LPG prices covers the June context.
| Period in 2026 | Reported commercial price change |
|---|---|
| February–June | Rose by ₹1,373, from ₹1,740.50 to ₹3,113.50 |
| July | Reduced by ₹183.50 |
| August | Reduced by ₹192 |
| 1 September | Increased by ₹9.50 |
| 1 October | Increased by ₹62.50 |
| 1 November | Increased by ₹10 |
The June peak coincided with global energy supply disruptions and high international rates. Separately, domestic cylinder prices rose by ₹89 between March and June as the West Asia crisis disrupted supplies.
Why do LPG and aviation fuel prices change?
International benchmark prices and the rupee–dollar exchange rate influence monthly LPG and aviation fuel revisions. Oil companies revise these prices on the first day of each month.
In addition, rates can differ across states because of local levies, including value-added tax. International energy supply conditions also provide context; see the report on India’s oil imports.
Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) recorded its fourth consecutive monthly increase. Previously, its price rose by ₹5 per litre in August, ₹6.28 in September and ₹16 in October.
Why does the price revision matter?
The commercial LPG price hike raises cooking fuel costs for hotels and restaurants. Therefore, it may also affect their pricing decisions.
Meanwhile, higher ATF prices add to airlines’ expenditure. Jet fuel accounts for as much as 40% of airline operating costs, according to the source.
