Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the Bengaluru–Mumbai train on 1 November 2026. Earlier, on 31 October, he and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath jointly flagged off the Varanasi–Delhi train.
The Varanasi–New Delhi route has four intermediate halts: Prayagraj, Kanpur Central, Aligarh and Ghaziabad. Meanwhile, the Mumbai–Bengaluru route has eight: Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Yadgir, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune and Kalyan.

What are the boarding and onboard service rules?
Only passengers holding confirmed tickets may board Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. Therefore, reservation against cancellation (RAC), waitlisted and partially confirmed tickets do not permit boarding.
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) provides catering based on journey duration between stations. In addition, passengers receive a one-litre Rail Neer bottle, a newspaper and a linen kit. For related passenger safety context, read about the train charging point rule.
Why does this matter for UPSC?
The launch offers examples of intercity rail connectivity and passenger-service rules. For Prelims, distinguish the route endpoints, intermediate stations and weekly exceptions.
